Dad’s Guide to Pregnancy for Dummies
Cover to cover.
That’s right, I read a book from cover… to cover.
There may be a stigma about “For Dummies” books, but this book here is a pound for pound, page for page, necessary tool for the average man-turning-dad.
The Dad’s Guide to Pregnancy for Dummies is the man’s equivalent to the popular woman’s guide for everything pregnant, What to Expect When You’re Expecting. It covers everything from deciding to conceive all the way through dealing with food allergies with your newborn, as well as basic necessities for protecting your family from going broke or even the more morbid, a parent’s unfortunate passing.
My personal copy is riddled with post-it note arrows.
They say that people just automatically get into the groove of parental instinct, and just know what to do naturally. However at the same time they say that you are never prepared. While I can say that even after reading this book you can never actually be prepared, everything I’ve read in this book is nothing but good knowledge.
Like, did you know anything about creating a Birth plan? Right…!!! What is that??? What about other classes that aren’t Lamaze? Do you know how to wipe clean a baby girl? Or how many types of temperature thermometers there are or which one is the most accurate? It even puts into perspective what the stay at home mom is doing while we’re at work, and recommends how to keep things in the house easy for the two of you (like coming home immediately to take care of the baby so she can have some me time…)
These are just a few little snippets of information that you’re going to get from this book.
It’s too the point.
And you don’t have to be a Dummy to read it.
I highly suggest Dad’s Guide to Pregnancy for Dummies for first all dads, new or not.
